The most common form of database used in small businesses is a contact database. This can be in Excel, Access, Outlook, your PDA software or in any number of other contact programs. The advantage of using Outlook or PDA software is that you can synchronize it to your PDA or smartphone and carry it with you when you are away from your office. You also have a full backup copy in case you lose your PDA or smartphone. From this database you can produce mailing lists, e-mail distribution lists, etc.
